Calling all super heroes! I need some serious help fighting my arch-enemy, Multiple Sclerosis! I was diagnosed with MS when I was 16 and for the past 9 years we have been engaged in an exhausting battle. Multiple Sclerosis is a bully, it attacks swiftly and spontaneously. MS leaves lesions on your brain and takes away your ability to function, to complete basic tasks and usually your mobility.
I have been fighting Multiple Sclerosis on and off for the past 9 years, but lately it has been winning and I am determined to come out victorious once again! This winter, MS left me bed-ridden for around 6 months and I have been struggling to get back to “normal” life since. MS has developed a new fighting tactic to see just how many times I can catch myself before falling down due to sudden loss of balance. Walking has also become a mysterious adventure that usually doesn’t end well. Multiple Sclerosis has stolen my balance, strength and endurance; walking is something I dread!
Multiple Sclerosis has thrown many new problems my way this year that have made it difficult to get around and be independent. However, I have found a powerful weapon to battle MS’ unpredictability, a canine caregiver!! Not only will my superhero sidekick make life easier now, it will give my family and boyfriend peace of mind in the future, I will regain my independence and confidence! This spectacular pooch will keep me safe from loss of balance, loss of coordination, numbness/tingling, blurry vision and weakness. My sidekick will even have his own phone to contact someone if I’m ever in danger (just like the superheroes in the movies!).
Unfortunately, canine caregivers are not cheap and I desperately need some help from my fellow superheroes to get my dog geared up and ready for the fight!
