Altrusa International of Central CT participating in World Book NIght
Altrusa International of Central CT participated in World Book Night on Monday April 23 and gave 300 paperback books to light readers in our area along with other volunteers from around the world to promote reading. Altrusa was honored to be part of this worldwide initiative while continuing with thier local literacy projects. Altrusa of Central Connecticut went into the community to give away 300 of their favorite books. This was a worldwide event and the first in the US. Last year the UK and Ireland launched the first World Book night. Thousands of towns and cities around the country and beyond were participating in the second annual World Book Night, where some 2.5 million free books were donated. Altrusa International of Central CT has worked in the Middletown CT and surrounding communities for more than 55 years. Altrusa International is a not-for-profit international association of professional women and men who volunteer their energies and expertise in projects dedicated to community betterment.
