MHS Varsity Baseball Pay It Forward to Local Little Leaguers
With Little League Opening Day just around the corner (Saturday, April 28, 2012, 9:00am) the Islander Varsity Baseball Team took an opportunity to share their talents and love of the game with their younger, less experienced counterparts at the Middletown Little League Skills Day. Held last Saturday, April 21st at the Major League field at Aquidneck School, minor and major league players were treated to skills stations manned by the high school athletes to teach techniques in hitting, throwing and catching.
This annual event is always a favorite for players and coaches alike. Middletown Little League President, Paul Theriault shared,"It's great to see these boys coming down to the Little League field to give back to the community. It's a very special moment when the young players can look up to a Varsity player as an athlete and the coaches can see how far their players from the past have come."
The Little League Players were treated to eight hands-on skills stations, an exciting drills demonstration and, of course, a hot dog lunch at the event's conclusion.
