C. Patrick Lombardi, a 2012 graduate of Middletown High School, received the Anna M. Ripa Memorial Scholarship from Forum Lodge 391, Sons of Italy. Lombardi, who will be studying pre-medicine at the University of Delaware, is the recipient of numerous awards for academics and volunteerism. As part of an internship at Newport Hospital, he performs a number of duties assisting nurses and patients. In 2010, he accompanied the Newport delegation to Imperia, Italy, Newport’s Sister City, as a result of an essay and interview competition among students in Aquidneck Island high schools.

The Anna M. Ripa Scholarship is awarded annually to area high school graduating seniors of Italian descent who submit essays about their heritage and demonstrate academic achievement. The scholarship is named for the late Anna Ripa, who was a longtime member and the mother of Forum president Shirley Ripa and vice president Paula Kyle.
