Middletown Urges Hurricane Irene Preparations
MIDDLETOWN, R.I., August 24, 2011: The Middletown Police Department (MPD) is urging residents to begin preparations for the possibility of a hurricane or tropical storm arriving this weekend.
- Information about storm preparation can be found at the RI government website: http://www.ri.gov/hurricane/.
- Middletown residents are encouraged to go to the town website, www.middletownri.com and sign up for the Code Red Emergency Message Notification system. The system allows residents to receive recorded emergency messages from the town through their home and/or cell phones.
- In addition, those residents with special needs should click on the Special Needs Emergency Registry Information link at the top of the Town of Middletown homepage. This state run registry is used to identify local residents who may need special assistance in the event of disaster. This includes residents with disabilities, chronic needs or special health care needs.
- A Parking Ban for the Town of Middletown will begin at 1200 hrs (noon), on Saturday Aug. 27, 2011 and will remain in effect until further notice. No vehicles may be parked on any town or state road during this time.
