Middletown Youth Added to People's Credit Union Advisory Board
People’s Credit Union is pleased to announce the new Youth Advisory Board. The first meeting took place on Monday, April 23, at the Credit Union’s Middletown location.
William Covell Anthony II, of Middletown, is among the members.
The new Youth Advisory Board was created to help the Credit Union better understand the needs and perspectives of today’s youth and finances. The Board will also assist the Credit Union in improving their youth programs (the My CU Savings Club and My CU Checking accounts) and with financial literacy initiatives, projects and events. The new board is a perfect opportunity for teens to expand their knowledge of and work in a business and personal finance team environment.
This is the first year People’s has done the board. The members of the Youth Advisory Board are between the ages of 13-20. They can each serve up to a three year term. Each applied for the position and was chosen to be a member of the Board. The 2012-2013 Youth Advisory Board members are:
- Matt Alexander, Portsmouth
- William Covell Anthony II, Middletown
- Thomas Gibbons, North Kingstown
- Devin Lane, North Kingstown
- David Morin, North Kingstown
- Jacob Ramos, Bristol
- Morgan Rice, Middletown
- Andrew Thibeault, Middletown
- Brian Wolfe, Portsmouth
“One of our biggest initiatives at the Credit Union is educating our youth in financial literacy. We are very excited to have these nine local teens helping us help them. I am certain the new Youth Advisory Board is going to be a huge driver for us in how we can help the local youth market learn about the value of money,” commented Ellen Ford, People’s President & CEO.
People’s Credit Union serves members through six locations in Bristol, Middletown, Newport, North Kingstown, Portsmouth and Wakefield.
