Red Cross Flag Day Breakfast at Atlantic Beach Club to Benefit Armed Forces

  • June 8, 2011

The American Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter will host its 5th annual Flag Day Breakfast on Tuesday, June 14 at the Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown.

“The Flag Day breakfast is fast becoming a tradition in Rhode Island,” said Rhode Island Chapter Board member and event Co-Chair Maria Barr. “Proceeds from the event support American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces programs in Rhode Island.”

This year’s breakfast will honor Rear Admiral Joseph Strasser United States Navy (Ret.), who served as the President of the Naval War College in Newport from 1990 to 1995.

Special guest speaker at this year’s breakfast is Air National Guard Lieutenant Colonel Kathleen Sullivan. Lt. Col. Sullivan is currently assigned to the Rhode Island National Guard Joint Force Headquarters. Sullivan spent three years as a pilot in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The breakfast will be held at the Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown. “Because the Atlantic Beach Club is generously donating their facility and the food for the event, all proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces programs in Rhode Island,” Barr noted.

Tickets for the event are $25 per person or $250 for a table of ten. Corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available. For reservations or more information, please contact Ken Brockway at (401) 862-7770 or email him at kbrockway@cox.net.
