Town Councillor Named Foodservice Marketer of the Year
FAJARDO, PUERTO RICO—Ed Silveira Jr. of Middletown, employed by Sysco Boston, based in Norton, MA, was recently honored as a "Foodservice Value-Added Products Marketer of the Year." Silveira also serves on the Middletown Town Council.
The industry award was presented by Certified Angus Beef on Oct. 2,2010 at an annual conference in Fajardo, Puerto Rico to recognize food distributors for promoting Certified Angus Beef-brand short ribs and other specialized products, according to a company press release. Contests and promotions helped the team achieve a 19-percent increase in category sales over the previous sales year. The efforts also helped the company achieve a Top Sales Volume Broadline Foodservice Distributor award, at No. 3, for Certified Angus Beef ® products sold during the past year, according to company officials.
The company was one of 35 companies that received top marketing, sales and integrity awards at the conference, which was held in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.
The Certified Angus Beef brand was introduced in 1978. More than 15,000 businesses partner with the brand in the United States and 46 other countries, according to a company statement.
