120 National Grid Gas Customers Remain Without Service
The company said 370 of the 490 customers who lost service gas yesterday have been restored
As of 6:00 this morning, 120 Middletown National Grid gas customers remain without service, said David Graves, a company spokesman.
Yesterday, a total of 490 customers lost service after a private contractor at St. George’s School hit a four inch gas line, which caused a leak.
Crews went door-to-door on Thursday to shut down the individual meters and pilot lights, before they could restore service. The Middletown Police Department and a locksmith worked alongside National Grid in order to gain access to around 20 unoccupied homes, said Graves.
“They have been great,” he said about the Middletown Police. “They have been very cooperative and helpful.”
Today, crews will continue to go door-to-door to restore service to the remaining 120 customers.
