Potter League Auction Offers On-Water Views of America’s Cup Trials
This Friday's Potter League fundraiser to benefit homeless animals includes a 40-foot yacht for a day of race-viewing this summer.
The “Have a Heart” cocktail party and auction, to benefit the Potter League for Animals, takes place this Friday, and advance tickets are still available—for the event itself, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Hotel Viking, in Newport, and for the Preview Party, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the door, but there is a $15 discount if you buy advance tickets. The Main Event is $60 with advance reservation, $75 at the door; Preview Party is $85 with advance reservation, $100 at the door.
A key reason to go to the Preview Party is to give yourself extra time to view the Silent Auction items and plan your strategy for winning such items as a “Scenic Plane Ride in Newport in a 1946 J3 Piper Cub,” or a private charter for 70 aboard the schooner Aurora.
But the night’s real excitement will come with the Live Auction. Offerings include a one-week stay in Longboat Key, Florida (including airfare); a day aboard a 40-foot Alden yacht to watch the America’s Cup Trials this summer; a New York City trip including VIP tickets as part of the live studio audience of “The Martha Stewart Show”; and a two-hour charter for 10 people aboard the historic 12-meter yacht, Northern Light.
