Boss Man Burgers to Open in Middletown

Boss Man Burgers plans to open another eatery at a very well-known Middletown spot.

Driving down East Main Road in Middletown earlier this week, you might have seen a very familiar red, black and white sign.

Boss Man Burgers, the well-known Portsmouth eatery inside the Irving gas station, plans to open a second location in Middletown.

The new location will open in just two weeks next to the Frosty Freeze on East Main Road. The site is the former location of the now-closed Grape Room.

"We thought it was the next step," says Boss Man co-owner Jason Peters about opening the second spot. "We have people that come here from Middletown and Newport. It was the amount of business we're doing."

Boss Man's beginnings

Boss Man Burgers, owned by brothers Jason and Sean Peters, has become extremely popular in just its two years inside the East Main Road gas station. It might have something to do with its co-owner's lifelong commitment to the restaurant industry.

Jason Peters, 36, has worked in the restaurant business since age 13. He's worked at some very well-known local eateries, including Blackstone Catering, the White Horse Tavern and McGrath's Clam Bake.

However, his heart was with a very specific type of food. "I always wanted to open a burger place," he said. And open a burger place he did with a second on the way.

Boss Man, born again

The new Boss Man Burgers will be quite larger than its Portsmouth spot at about 3,000 sq. ft.

The new location will offer the same menu as in Portsmouth with one major addition — breakfast.

"We plan to add a breakfast menu using products from local farmers," Peters says.

The products for the breakfast menu will come from such local growers as Aquidneck Farms in Portsmouth, the Youngs' Family Farm in Little Compton and from Mark and Mobile, a business that works with local growers.

Boss Man be hiring

The new location also means Boss Man will be hiring new employees, approximately 15 to 20 new hires to be exact.

Boss Man is looking for food runners and counter people. To apply for a position, e-mail bossmanburgers@yahoo.com
