Daughter Kicks Two Officers in Groin After They Arrested Her Mother
A mother and a daughter, both from Middletown, were arrested early Saturday morning in the parking lot of Kentucky Fried Chicken on West Main Road.
Around 2:05 a.m., police pulled over 36 year-old Rebecca Harris of 68 Jean St. after she allegedly swerved across the road and almost hit the curb, said police. Harris reportedly told officers she had four beers earlier that night. Police said after she failed the field sobriety tests and was told she would be arrested, she reportedly became agitated and refused to put her hands behind her back.
Police said as they struggled to place Harris into the cruiser, a Nissan Altima drove past the scene at a high rate of speed. Police said a few minutes later, the Altima drove by again in the opposite direction. Police said the passengers were screaming at the officers from inside of the vehicle.
The Altima reportedly pulled into the Blue Wave Car Wash and the driver, later identified as Mairah Harris of 9 Pocahontas Dr., ran directly towards the officers and screamed at them to let her mother go. The 20 year-old allegedly cursed and screamed that her mother did not do anything wrong.
Her mother reportedly began to yell at her daughter from the backseat of the cruiser. Police said Mariah antagonized her mother until officers told her she was obstructing justice.
She allegedly ignored the continued warnings from the officer and yelled and pointed her finger at the police. When the towing company arrived, police said she went over to the driver and yelled at him.
When police attempted to arrest Mariah, she reportedly kicked the officer in the groin. A second officer attempted to gain control of her, but she continued to kick and resist arrest, said police. As that officer took her to the ground, she kicked that officer in the groin as well.
Once in handcuffs, as the first officer tried to place her in the cruiser, she allegedly tried to kick him a second time in the groin area, but he was able to block it with his leg. She was charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction of an officer, simple assault and resisting arrest.
Her mother was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
Woman Allegedly Threatens Crowd of Onlookers
Kimberly Dizon, 38, of 38 Park Holm, Newport, was arrested on Sunday afternoon around 3:32 p.m. after she allegedly acted in a disorderly manner at 11A Ludlow Rd. Dizon reportedly wanted to see her child and was told to get off the property by a 42 year-old Middletown man. She allegedly banged on a window which broke a screen window.
She cursed and threatened the individuals inside the house, said police. Police said when they attempted to arrest her, she pushed the arresting officer, swore at him and said that she was not going to jail again.
According to the reports, as she was led towards the police car, she turned to a crowd of nearby residents and said “my nephew is gonna come down here and shoot up all you [expletive]”
She allegedly told officers that when she gets out of jail she would go back to the house. Dizon was charged with disorderly conduct, domestic vandalism, resisting arrest and an active bench warrant.
