Fill This Empty Middletown Space: Former Linens 'n Things

What are your ideas for the types of businesses you'd like to see in existing empty spaces around town? Post a comment to let us know.

Aquidneck Islanders sometimes joke about anything that requires a trip off the Island. People, it seems, would like to stay right here in town for all their needs. To do a little retail matchmaking, we'll post an image of an empty storefront from time to time and ask you to tell us what business you think would be perfect in that location.

Here's the first one: the 25,000 square foot space in the Middletown Square shopping center at 1315 West Main Road. Originally, it held Linens 'n Things, but that national retailer moved out a couple years ago, and since then, the space has held only temporary or seasonal occupants, such as costume shops or fireworks vendors.

What business would you like to see in this spot?

Agree with Aldi. I work near an Aldi and do most of my shopping there. You can't beat a gallon of milk for 2.19, a dozen eggs for 1.19 or some really nice multigrain bread for 1.39. With a large family that plows through milk and eggs, those are the savings that really help!

Market Basket would be my choice ...but i dont think it's big enough...............

or a nice Restaurant / sports bar / entertainment complex ...but the people on this island would never approve that idea ........
