Is America Stronger Now Than Four Years Ago?

What does Middletown think? Is life better than four years ago?

During last night’s presidential debate, President Obama said that America is stronger now than when he came into office.

On the Middletown Patch Facebook page, here is what some Middletown Patch readers had to say:

Kyle Bryer: Of course. The country was headed to financial ruin [due] to a lack of regulation and or oversight of the lending firms.

Becky Peckham: Absolutely, but we still have a long way to go.

Mary O'Keefe: Absolutely not.

We want to know what you think.  Is America is stronger now than four years ago?  Tell us in the comments.

America is not stronger than it was 4 years ago. The economy is weak and continues to be stuck in neutral. Employers are not hiring, not only because of the uncertainty in the economy, but because of the burdon being placed on them by ObamaCare. The middle class are being crushed by high taxes, government fee's, skyrocketing healthcare costs and high gasoline prices. This is a direct result of the policies of President Obama and the democrat party.

No the economy is not better. In fact this is truly strange. I had read this past summer where someone wrote that just before elections we would notice the gas prices start to go down. Wow how true!!! Just a coincidence????

America is used to instant gratification and quick fixes. President Obama has built a strong foundation towards economic recovery. On the international scene he has forged ties with allies so the U.S. will no longer be the Lone Ranger when helping emerging countries as they struggle to establish free government. He has made progress correcting situations that were at least 8 years in the making. Don't look for the quick fix. Responsible statesmanship takes time.
