The Middletown Islanders Boy’s Varsity Soccer team opened up the season with a tie against Lincoln High School with a score of 0-0 on Thursday evening at the Gaudet Turf Field.
The home opener was a hard fought battle that saw both teams displaying tough defense throughout the entire match. Goalkeeper Kyle Hassan had 14 saves for the Islanders while Jon Barruetabena, Dennis Turano and Joey Rutledge played well in defense. Coach Oliveira was happy with the effort of the team considering the team has several key injuries that have limited their play.
The JV Boys lost 3-1 in their opener earlier in the evening.
The Islanders next home game is next Tuesday at 6PM.
