Man Allegedly Threatens to Shoot Everyone in Bar

The following arrest was reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On Saturday around 1:07 in the morning, Middletown Police were dispatched to Brewski’s Bar for a report of a man, later identified as 35 year-old Benjamin Oliveira of Portsmouth,  who had threatened to shoot everyone in the bar.

Witnesses said Oliveira was extremely intoxicated and tried to start fights with customers.  He was kicked out and told not to return, but Oliveira attempted to get back inside, said police.

When he was told he could not go back in the bar, Oliveira allegedly said he was going to “shoot up the bar” and kill everyone inside.

When police arrived, witnesses reported he was driving away as the passenger in a van.   Police said when they stopped the van, Oliveira swore at the officers, refused to give information and attempted to walk away.

Police placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct and brought him into the station.  During processing, Oliveira reportedly said “you're lucky you secure your gun in processing, otherwise you know how things would end.”

Police did not find weapons on Oliveria. According to the state records, Oliveira has a history of many arrests, including several domestic assault charges, violations of no contact orders, breaking and entering, among others.
