Police Seize Cocaine, Pills From Man's Home
The man has charges pending in Bristol, Warren and Middletown.
A Bristol man who faces felony charges after police allegedly found cocaine in his home last week also has pending charges in Middletown.
Manuel Chaves, 33, of 21 Peckham Place in Bristol, currently has pending illegal narcotic charges in Bristol, Warren and Middletown. In February 2011, Chaves was arrested by Warren Police after allegedly being caught dealing marijuana. Meanwhile back in October 2010 in Middletown, Chaves was charged with felony possession of cocaine and Vicodine pills, shortly after police on routine patrol stopped his car near 232 West Main Road.
According to Bristol Police, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, officers observed Chaves seated in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle in the parking lot behind the Cup Defenders Association on Wood Street. Upon searching the vehicle, police allegedly located and confiscated two grams of cocaine in his possession. Police also arrested Durval Cordeiro, 41, of 6 Third Street in Bristol, who was sitting in the rear of the vehicle, for possession of methadone.
According to a release, Bristol Police officers later executed a search warrant at Chaves' home and allegedly confiscated 50 grams of cocaine, oxycodone, methadone, illegal steroids including Dianabol, numerous prescription pills, scales ledgers, cell phones, computers, and $672 in cash. Police say the cocaine seized from Chaves' home has an estimated street value of $3,000.
Chaves was arraigned on Feb. 4 by Bail Commissioner John Rego, held without bail and transferred to the ACI.
