MFD Put Out Structural Fire Tuesday Afternoon

The fire broke out early this afternoon

As voters walked into the polling booths at Gaudet Middle School on Tuesday around 12:30 p.m., there was a black cloud above them that had nothing to do with politics.

The black cloud was literal, caused by a small structural fire at 1 Paul Avenue.   The fire started in the shed, which was quickly contained by the Middletown Fire Department.

Middletown Police temporarily blocked off High Street, in the case the fire spread, said officials on scene.

There was damage to the contents inside of the shed as well as the structure. The fire is still under investigation.

This is our shed and my wife Kathy and I could not be more grateful to the fast response by the Middletown Fire Dept. (and the Police Dept.) The Fire Department not only saved many of the contents and they and the police protected the neighborhood from any damage or spread of the fire. You don't appreciate what we in Middletown have until you need them. We have the Best!!

Please vote "Approve" for Question #8 to provide an adequate Fire Station.

Will the new station put more firefighters on the trucks Austin? They arrived with one firefighter in a sport utility and one firefighter in a big engine. It seems like they need firefighters not a station.
