Middletown Firefighters to Shave Head for a Cause
If the firefighters reach their goal of $2,500, they will shave their heads to help battle childhood cancer
For the third year in a row, members of the Middletown Fire Department plan to shave their heads for a cause. If they reach their team fundraising goal of $2,500 to battle childhood cancer, the firefighters will go bald on March 14 as part of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation charity drive.
Nobody knows more about the pain of losing someone to cancer better than Middletown Fire Inspector Jon Reese, who is organizing this year’s event.
“I lost my mom year and a half ago to cancer,” said Reese. “My grandmother died a number of years ago.”
Reese said the drive is a way the firefighters can make a positive impact to the community.
“Obviously we have the image of public servants, we want to try to go out and make a difference in other ways too,” said Reese.

With only a few days to go, we're just under halfway to our goal! Thank you to all who have donated so far, and please consider a donation if you haven't already! It's a great cause and all proceeds directly benefit children's cancer research and support organizations.
Big thanks to Olga for helping us get the word out with this article!
