Middletown Police Log: 4 DUI Arrests During Weekend
The following information is based on Middletown Police Department arrest reports and does not indicate any convictions.
Robert Christopher Vega, 37, of 1776 West Main Rd., Middletown, was arrested at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, on a charge of driving under the influence. According to the police report, an officer observed Vega's car swerving across lanes on West Main Road and Beacon Street. When speaking to Vega, the officer noticed the smell of alcohol; Vega allegedly told the officer he was on his way home from watching the football game with a friend. During field sobriety tests, Vega allegedly lost his balance several times. At the police station, he reportedly registered a blood alcohol content of .207.
Car in Snow Bank Leads to DUI Arrest
Michael V. McVeigh, 28, of 21 Tanglewood Dr., Attleboro, MA, was arrested at approximately 2 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 22, for driving under the influence. According to the police report, officers responded to a report of a single-car accident at the corner of Green End and Indian Avenues, and found McVeigh walking around a vehicle that was buried in the snow off the road. McVeigh allegedly could not explain the accident, saying only, “That happened” and pointing at the vehicle. In speaking to McVeigh, officers reportedly noticed the smell of alcohol, and conducted field sobriety tests. McVeigh, who allegedly said he was not injured in the crash, swayed several times during the testing. At the police station, he refused a chemical test.
DUI and Marijuana Arrests After Traffic Stop
Molly Reardon, 23, of 124 Frigate St., Jamestown, was arrested at approximately 11:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, for driving under the influence and driving without a license. Timothy Sousa, 25, of 6 Osage Dr., Middletown, a passenger in the car Reardon was driving, was arrested at approximately the same time for possession of marijuana.
According to the police report, an officer observed Reardon driving erratically on West Main Road near Brown’s Lane. The officer reportedly noticed the smell of alcohol when speaking to Reardon. She allegedly told the officer she had been to a funeral earlier that day and had drunk beer and wine. The officers reportedly conducted field sobriety tests, and stopped the one-leg stand test for Reardon’s safety. The officers allegedly noticed marijuana and a pipe under the seat where Sousa had been sitting. At the police station, Reardon allegedly refused a chemical test.
Speeding Leads to DUI Arrest on East Main Road
Randolph William Wicks, 20, of 114 E. Main Rd., Portsmouth, was arrested at approximately 11:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, for driving under the influence. According to the police report, an officer observed Wicks traveling at 53 mph in a 35 mph zone. When speaking to Wicks, the officer reportedly smelled alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and Wicks allegedly had difficulty keeping his balance. At the police station, he allegedly registered a blood alcohol content reading of .217.
Arrest for 2008 Violation
Devan S. Donahue, 28, of 43 Tyson Pl., Attleboro, MA, was arrested at approximately 4 a.m., Friday, Jan. 20, for a July 2008 violation for consuming alcohol in the area of Atlantic Beach on Purgatory Road. Middletown Police reportedly responded to Cumberland Police to pick up Donahue for the warrant.
No-Contact Order Violated
Mervin Emmanuel Brathwaite, 59, of 1225 East Main Rd., Middletown, was arrested at approximately 3:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 20, for violating a no-contact order. According to the police report, officers responded to a 911 hangup from a hotel on West Main Rd., and allegedly found Brathwaite in a room with other individuals, and in violation of a no-contact order.
