Middletown's New DMV Opens Today
The RI Department of Motor Vehicles is moving the local DMV from its temporary West Main Road location to a new permanent spot on Valley Road.
Nearly a year after the closure of its 73 Valley Road location, the Rhode Island Department of Motor Vehicles is cutting the ribbon today on a new permanent branch in Middletown, located at 52 Valley Road.
The new office is located just near the intersection with East Main Road. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The DMV closed its temporary W. Main Road location on Monday to facilitate the move.
The old Valley Road location was closed in February of this year. At the time, officials said the closure would be temporary until they found a new, smaller location. Just days after, members of Aquidneck Island's senate delegation began pressing Gov. Lincoln Chafee’s administration to restore DMV services on the island immediately.
A temporary site located at 999 West Main Road opened on May 2.
The new DMV branch is located in the shopping plaza at the corner of East Main and Valley roads, and is in the space currently occupied by the Piano Gallery of Rhode Island.

There's no way there is enough parking there. That's a really busy plaza already. I feel badly for the existing businesses.

T they put in a whole new parking lot and entrance on the side of the building. You will see when you go over there. It could actually end up helping businesses if people are looking to kill time waiting for their number to be called.

Nearly a year? February 11 - November 1? Pregnancies last longer. Please stop exaggerating.
