Monday: Famine Lecture, Middletown Town Council Meeting

Here's a look at what's going on around Middletown today.

 
  1. Middletown Town Council is scheduled tonight for 7p.m.
  2. The International Tennis Hall of Fame will host a lecture, The R.I. Irish Famine Memorial: Its Past, Present and Future, at 6 p.m. Admission is $2. Donald D. Deignan, Ph.D. will discuss the evolution of the R.I. Irish Famine Memorial project from its inception in 1995 through the Monument's Dedication in 2007.
  3. This week, visit the Young Adult department at the Newport Public Library and tell them your best and worst ideas for summer vacation for the Butcher Paper Opinion Poll. Staff will vote and prizes will be awarded for most creative, most educational, most fun and most "unfun".
  4. Register for tomorrow's Newport Cooks! class, Gourmet in the Galley. Learn to prepare a meal in a small galley on the rough seas with limited ingredients. The class is $55.
  5. Today's forecast: 70 percent chance of rain with a high around 73 degrees.
