MPD: Disorderly Conduct, DUIs
The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Karen Tungett, 35, of 22 Continental Dr. Apt. 1, was arrested on Sunday on a misdemeanor charge of domestic disorderly conduct. She allegedly got into a fight with a 31-year-old Middletown man about breast feeding their 8-month-old son. He told police he did not want her to feed the baby because she had been drinking. He alleged she physically assaulted him to the point that he had to pin her to the wall to stop her from harming him further.
Tracy Butler, 54, of 28 Brownell St., Warren was arrested on Saturday around 10:52 p.m. on a first offense driving under the influence charge. Police pulled her over for traveling 47 mph on Aquidneck Avenue, a 25 mph zone. When police asked if she knew what town she was in, she allegedly said she was in Portsmouth and going over the bridge to Warran. She told police she had two glasses of wine that night.
Butler failed the field sobriety tests and was taken in to the Middletown Police Station. She registered a blood alcohol content of .010 and .009, which is within the legal limit to drive. Police said they believed she was impaired due to narcotics. She agreed to a blood chemical test and was transported to Newport Hospital to have blood drawn. She was also charged with speeding.
Douglas Smith, 57, of 79 Waters Edge, Tiverton, was arrested on Saturday around 2:26 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence. He was also charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test.
