MPD: Man Charged with DUI Driving Home From Hospital
The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Joseph Fitzgerald, 42, of 33 Bluff Ave., Tiverton was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 19, around 2:50 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence. Police said he was pulled over because he was swerving across the road. He reportedly said he was coming from Newport Hospital. Police confirmed he had been treated with narcotics and was advised not to drive. He was also cited with a laned roadway violation and refusal to submit to chemical tests.
Tammy Polley of 215 Rogers Lane, 33, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 19 around 1:45 a.m., on a driving under the influence .15 or greater charge. Police said she was pulled over because she swerved across the road. She reportedly complained to police that she is constantly being pulled over for no reason.
When asked if she had been drinking, Polley said she had two drinks, said police. She failed the sobriety tests and was arrested. At the station, she registered a blood alcohol content of .173.
Bruce Moniz of 4 Sunset Hill Rd. was arrested on Friday, Jan. 18, around 9:05 p.m. after got into a fight with his 18-year-old brother. Moniz was charged with domestic simple assault.
