Newport residents and visitors will soon have a new destination for day trips — starting Saturday, June 29, the Block Island Ferry Company is scheduled to begin high-speed trips to Block Island from Perrotti Park.
A one-way voyage is expected to take about 70 minutes, ABC6 reported on its website.
The company has also scheduled a grand opening of its new site for Friday morning at 11 am aboard the M/V Islander.
According to the Block Island Ferry website, adult tickets are $25 each way per person. Children 4 to 12 are $13 each way; children under 4 free. Additional charge for bicycles.
