Reader Karen Johnson took these pictures of the Snowy Owl on Wednesday, around 2:30 p.m.

She said she took the "Island Rocks" trail straight to the water, and took a left until the viewing dock.  The owl was on the top of the largest rock, left side of the set, in a set of rocks furthest from the shore.

"She was quite content just looking around – lots of ducks, etc," explained Johnson in an email.   "It was really mild out so I don’t think she had any intention of giving up her spot."

Scroll through the pictures to see what Johnson bumped into on her way to find the owl!

There have been several sightings of the Snowy Owl in Middletown since Thanksgiving.  Away from it's natural home of the Arctic, it is believed to be traveling south in search of food.

I just added two more photos taken on Saturday afternoon from the viewing deck on Island Rocks Trail. "She" is still on the same set of rocks but moved more to the middle. Still hiding on the Sakonnet side but did turn to look at us. She has quite the following.
