Police Charge Woman with DUI, Daughter in Car
The following arrest was reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
On Friday, Jan. 18, police arrested Candace Jenkins, 40, of 10 Elliott Place, Newport on a first offense driving under the influence charge. Police said her 8 year-old daughter was in the car.
According to the police report, an employee from the Potter League Animal Shelter reported that an intoxicated woman with a young girl drove out of the parking lot. Police spotted a suspect vehicle on Oliphant Lane that was swerving across the road. Jenkins drove into the driveway of 223 Oliphant Lane, over the grass, then back onto the driveway and stopped, said police.
When Jenkins exited the car, she allegedly said “I’m drunk." Police said she smelled strongly of alcohol and stumbled while standing outside of the car. During the field sobriety tests, Jenkins allegedly lost her balance and was caught by an officer.
Jenkins was also cited with a laned roadway violation and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

WOW! I wonder what civil rights violations we can accuse the police of violating on this upstanding citizen. Or better yet lets blame the Potter League employee for ratting her out. Come on guys where are all the police bashers. We should be all over this one.

Well I learned two things today:
One: I need to work on my sarcarsm. I thought I was spot on. Better luck next time I guess.
Second: its nice to see that there are still people in this town that belive the local police and for that matter fire are doing a great job.
MPD great job getting another idiot off the road. To the Potter League staff kudos to you for stepping up.
To those who posted: make sure your voice is typed next time some A@@ attacks the police or fire for stopping a criminal or saving a life.
