Summer Camp Guide For Middletown

Enrollment is starting soon for many summer camps. Here is a selection of summer camps in Middletown and around Rhode Island

 

With the choice and variety of summer camps available in Middletown and Rhode Island, boredom won't be an option.

YMCA Summer Day Camps in Middletown

YMCA summer camps offer a variety of traditional and specialty camps for all ages such as R.A.V.E., gymnastics, sports, rock climbing, Top chef, Beach Bum, Newport & More, Surfing, Windsurfing/Kayaking, carpentry, Potter League Happy Tails, Greenside Skate Camp! Ages range from 3 through 15 (depends on the age limit of the camp).

There is also a new junior program for teen 15 and 16 years old and the YMCA is  adding archery to our camp activity list!

Type: Only Jewish Camp in Rhode Island
Dates: 2 & 4 week sessions, June-August
Details: Camp JORI, the only Jewish overnight camp in Rhode Island, has been providing memorable summer experiences for children since 1937.

Canonicus
Location: Exeter, RI
Type: Christian camping experience
Dates: 1 week sessions, June 23-August 16
Details: There are over 300 acres of field, wetland, and forest to explore and enjoy at Canonicus. They offer a variety of traditional camp activities which are wholesome and engaging as well as daily Bible study designed to encourage campers' faith.

SuperCamp
Location: Brown University, Providence, RI
Type: Academic
Dates: July 5-August 4
Details: SuperCamp teaches the essential skills that children need to succeed as citizens and workers in the 21st century. Learnings include note-taking skills, studying and test-taking strategies.

YMCA
Location: Point Judith Sound, Wakefield, RI
Type: Traditional overnight camp
Dates: 1 & 2 week sessions, June 23-August 17
Details: Spend the summer with boys and girls your age who enjoy all of the same activities. You can join in all of the activities you already love and try out some new ones. Activities include sail, swim, skate, craft, bike, canoe, kayak, windsurf, climb, create, stretch, lean, and play.

Details: Campers will choose their activities much like choosing classes at school to create a full schedule for the day. More intensive activities, like sailing, have all-day options.

Camp Hoffman
Location: West Kingston, RI
Type: Girl Scout (non girl scouts may attend)
Dates: June 30-August 3
Details: Girls come for 3 days or 1 week (or more) overnight programs such as sailing, drama, challenge course, horseback riding, adventure, hiking, science experiments, nature exploration, archery, swimming, and more!

Near Middletown, there are summer tech camp options at iD Tech Camps. Location: Held at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI
Type: Tech Camp/Computer Camp
Dates: Weeklong, day and overnight camps. 7/1 – 7/29.
Details: Students ages 7-17 create iPhone apps, video games, programs in C++ and Java, robots, and more. Small classes (guaranteed 8:1). Fun, un-school environment with an emphasis on experiential learning and creating a final project.
