Thanksgiving: What's Open and Closed, Pie Run and Football

A Middletown guide to Thanksgiving Day

 

Thanksgiving is upon us and the majority of businesses and government offices will be closed in celebration of the holiday.  Here's a look a guide to today's events and closures.

The 27th Newport Fed Annual Pie Run takes place today.  For traffic restrictions, click here.   For race and registration information, click here.

The annual Middletown vs. Portsmouth Thanksgiving Day Football Game kicks off at 10 a.m. this morning.  Click here for details.

What's Open and What's Closed

U.S. Post Office — All location of the post office are closed, and there will be no mail delivery today. 

Middletown Town Hall— Closed all Thursday and Friday

Middletown Public Library — Closed Thursday

Middletown Senior Center — Closed Thursday

Grocery Stores

  • Shaw’s is closed.
  • Stop & Shop, all locations, are closed.
  • Sweet Berry Farm, 915 Mitchell’s Lane, will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • A Market Natural Foods is closed.

Restaurants and Retail Stores

  • Restaurants and stores will be open at their own discretion. Here are a few that told us they will be open. If you know a store or resturant that is open, share in the comments.

Banks

  • All banks are closed.

Transportation

  • Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will operate under its Sunday/holiday schedule today. To view schedules, click here

State Offices

  • All state offices are closed today.
