5 Things to Know-on-the-Go

Wednesday, nov. 3, 2010

1. Absentee Ballots to be Counted Today

The town's Board of Canvassers meets today at Town Hall, 350 East Main Road at 10 a.m. to tabulate write-in ballots and determine the "disposition of any Provisional Ballots voted during the November 2, 2010 General Election and matters related thereto," according to the agenda.

2. Antone Viveiros' 7th Seat:

The above-mentioned meeting has the potential to impact the final make-up of the new Town Council. Republican Antone Viveiros, who made his sixth run for council this year, narrowly maintains his 15-vote lead for the seventh at-large seat over Incumbent Frank Bozyan. On Wednesday, the town's Board of Canvassers is scheduled to tally and certify absentee and provisional ballots, which could leave Viveiros' 15-vote lead vulnerable to being overtaken by Bozyan.

3. The special Planning Board meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled.

A proposed wind turbine project originally scheduled for this meeting was withdrawn last week.
