Viewfinder: A Fair to Remember
Silveira's May Fair has been an island tradition for more than 20 years. All kinds of prizes, games and fun attracted a large crowd on May 21, thanks to hundreds in donations from locals and businesses.
The Silveira Kindergarten and Nursery School May Fair is an island tradition. It's held each year to benefit the school's programming of field trips, guest speakers and special events, as well as special initiatives. This year's May Fair held May 21 helped raise funds for the replanting of the school's famous mascot, an oak tree, as well as the updating and beautifying of a new playground for the children.
Games, crafts, vendors, karate demonstrations by Villari's Martial Arts, food, a bounce house, animal show by Animal Experiences, pony rides, carnival games and so much more occupied hundreds of parents and children at this all-day event.
"It was a fun way to spend a sunny and perfect Saturday in Middletown and a great way to know the school before I bring my daughter here," said one mother.
Last year the May Fair raised more than $4,500 and remains the largest event the school does each year with the community.
