The Aquafina Pitch Hit and Run took place on the playing fields at the Aquidneck Elementary School Saturday under blue skys.

Area youth ages 7-14 were invited to participate in this free baseball skills contest.

Pitch, Hit & Run (TM) is the Official Skills Competition for Major League Baseball.

Competitors were divided into age divisions and the winners advanced to the Aquafina State Finals at McCoy Stadium on May 21.

All participants received free Paw Sox tickets for the May 28 game against Indiana.

The competition only drew eight kids. It was the smallest turnout that Middeltown Recreation Director Tim Shaw has ever seen in all the years that the event has taken place, he said.

“Last year we had about 37 kids but years before there have been 70 or more,” he said.

Still, the 8 kids who showed up had a great time anyway.

The overall winners for the boys were:

  • Ages 9/10: KYLE SARASIN
  • Ages 11/12: SAL SCHEPICI
  • Ages 13/14: JOHNNY AGOROS

The overall winners for the girls was:

  • Ages 9/10: OLIVIA AGOROS

Congratulations!
