Young and Old Gather for Middletown Tree Lighting
The annual tree lighting at the Middletown Senior Center brought out the Christmas spirit in a crowd with people from age 2 to 102.
There was a little bit of everything Friday night at the Senior Center as Middletown residents gathered for the holiday tree lighting ceremony: The high school band played, nursery school children sang, town officials and local congressmen read “Twas the Night Before Christmas," and Santa arrived—thanks to the Middletown Fire Department. It was a holly jolly night all around.

Ohhhhh, so it was another HOLIDAY Tree lighting?
Sad that people are afraid to call it what it's been known as for so long.

Nope. They made special note of that fact at the beginning by asking "What kind of tree is this?" I shouted out, "It's a plastic imitation of a balsam fir tree." But everyone else shouted that it was a Christmas tree. It's only the Patch reporting that it was a Holiday Tree.
