Our Office Manager, Sarah Kirwin, has been involved with the “Confidence is Cool” Disabled Sailing and Recreational Camp since its start in 1997.
“It was a program that I instantly fell in love with. I continued to return year after year as a volunteer, then as a counselor, until I was asked to be the director in 2006 . Now, I cannot imagine a summer without doing it. At this point, I am pretty sure I get more out of the program than the children we serve!” Sarah said.
The “Confidence is Cool” camp is a recreational day camp offered to physically disabled children, ages seven to 17, and is designed to fill a void in summer programming available for children with physical disabilities. The program is designed to push boundaries, promote new friendships, encourage mentorship, build confidence, and emphasize fun! You can find more information about the program at www.sailtoprevail.org.
Molly Edwards, a Senior at Portsmouth High School and a counselor at the camp, is having her Senior Project fundraiser this Sunday April, 29 from 2-4 p.m. at Hibernian Hall in Newport.
It is photography show and all proceeds will go to the “Confidence is Cool” Camp.
Admission is $5 at the door.
Please help support this great cause!
