Re-instate White House Tours Petition
I'm looking for help from Patch readers across the country to sign my petition on the "We the People" website sponsored by President Obama. The petition asks the President to fund the White House tours by eliminating the First Family's summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard. The Secret Service costs alone for this one vacation will fund future White House tours for 33 months.

I created this petition for the school children who raised money for a Washington, DC, April vacation trip which is in jeporardy if we can't get the tours funded in time.

It's actually okay with me if the President temporarily shuts down WH tours. But he should not be releasing Prisoners (I don't care if he didn't know - he is the executive and responsible for the actions of his administration). There are many choices to be made for temporary or permanent cuts. WH tours are not needed...Please note I DO think the tours were targeted in order to generate controversy but ultimatly the need for such tours is more about transparency in government than it is about school trips.

It's so typical of the baggers that whomever wrote this petition would include so many spelling and grammatical errors that it would lead one to question whether it was real. I mean come on, "Whitehouse"? A real "patriot" should know it's two words.

Why dont you put forth a petition that says the following. Dear President Obama, stop playing games with the public regarding how the sequester implemention reductions are allocated. White House tours are your way of manipulating the publc so that they will be outraged at Congress for allowing a plan you created to be implemented. Mr President, we see through your games and we as the future leaders of our country will not tolerate your games at our expense.

According to the whitehouse website, if you sign a pledge that you are gay, atheist, an undocumented worker and anti-American, you still get agree tour.

Well I agree the Tours should never have been stopped. It was a political move to garner publicity for the Obama agenda. I will not sign the petition since you are required to create an account with the white house. If it was change.org I would as they do not require making an account to sign a petition.
This is all a game by this administration and nothing more than to try an tug at heart strings for political gain. Better the kids find out now that this president and his administration could careless about them. Private individuals and companies have offered to pay for the tours and been ignored. There is no reason sorry to say that this petition will change a thing. It is politics at its worst on the backs of children and taxpayers who own that house.
