Tolls? You can tell this is working folks, just by the insults and nonsence that unamed folks or throwing up on here Join STOP, Together we can prevent ourselves from becomes the ATm for the general fund, , anyway you look at it this is an ill thought out idea, as businesses close and tourtist dollars drop off the tolls will only be pushed higher, , There are otherways to fix this, but the GA see's this as the most lucrative way to grab money to fix all thier mandates and failures, How about a little Shilling money from the EDC,that was well thought out to!!

There's a lot on the other side to... Do you really think the state and ga cares about Portsmouth and tiverton residents that feel like they don't want to pay their fair share!!!!

The hopeful awakening of a sleeping giant the RI tax payers.
I suggest that you rewards your present RI General Assembly members that continue to support this abomination by just writing in a new and different name on your ballot this November..The highway trust funds monies issued to design and implement Bridges were in part consumed and then an accounting bait and switch manipulation RI style. The state continues to pick the pockets of the Aquidneck Island revenue generators and wealth creators on and off the Island.. Sad thing is the more money that the RI GA rips off the more big government spending plus shrinkage takes place. Yes, Keep in mind that the RI & Fed gas taxes are co-mingled / squandered into the general fun in RI. This as a means to wealth seizure and redistribution e.g. including an agenda of open ended spending at the expense of taxpayers. Yes, all trapped in the big government suspended misery.
Here in RI high cost for both road & bridge implementation & maintenance exhibits a recurring result that is very poor quality and a high rate of premature decay. The RI motto is we can pay no more but we can surely get better. Yes, our neighboring states all have a higher quality and lower cost road system!

It may be time to brake the strangle hold that the Democratic party has on this state and In Newport county, look what our Reps got us! And if We Send the guy who robbed Providence blind to Congress instead of the former head of the RI state police then were all insane, I stood 5 ft from Mr Doherty and he looked me dead in the eye and said he would do everything he could localy and in Washington to stop these tolls. You think he's going to go to Washington and be pushed around, please give me a break, he's a straight shooter and HIS word is his bond, not a tuff choice to make betwen Doherty and the other guy'

Governor Chaffee say's yesterday that new tolls are tentative and perhaps otherways of maintaing the bridge can be found, even names a few, But in the meantime the Head of the DOT says the old bridge just rotted away because DOT didn't maintain it!! SO where did all the cash taken from Newport county residents go, We have been paying gas taxes for years, how about fixing the DOT management instead of throwing MONEy at them And It's ALL Newport county money if they get these tolls
