Hold on a second. I like fireworks a lot too…especially on the 4th of July. It gives me a very patriotic feeling. And, there are lots of people who feel the same way about loud motorcycles. The loud rumbling reminds them of victorious bombing runs in various wars. But I can’t stand hearing motorcycles roaring more than a mile away. To me that’s disruptive. Of course that happens a little more frequently than fireworks. But I have to agree that maybe fireworks could be disruptive to some.

People are unbelievable in today's society...........complaining of Fireworks on the 4th really!!?? I had little ones and a 3yo presently, we dealt/deal with it, not whine and complain to try and make the majority apease the few.

Surprised no one has said that the USA's celebration of Indenpendence should be stopped as it may be offensive to illegals or those that were not born here.

Come to think of it, we should really feel bad for the other colors that aren't represented on the 4th. Orange, green, purple they must feel they are being discriminated against since red white and blue get all the glory.

Someone made a comment. They're probably a PITA. Let it go, people!

Pardon the error... Used someone (singular) with the pronoun they (plural). Therefore, he or she is probably a PITA. Just self-correcting :)

Hmmm; have to wonder if we had a thunderstorm for a good hour straight, which is not out of the question and very cool looking also. Who would we complain about that too?

I don't think it is asking to much for a little hearing inconvience for one night a year from Mr. Escobar, who puts this on every year and a good time is had by all who attend. Not to mention the great services he provides just being such a great citizen and businessman in the community.

Perhaps we need to think about something a little more important than boom, boom bang, wow, that's beautiful. Much more pressing problems I think. On the other hand, "eastside" might be just doing sarcasism about it, making all these comments, including mine pointless ;-}. Just saying

Hope everyone had a great 4th in any case.

There's always some one who objects to these type of events. Put on your headphones or buy some ear plugs if the noise offends you. Social events like this build community and reunite old friends. I didn't make it this year and regret it. Next year for sure.

Love the professional, permitted shows. Could do without the drunken amateur stuff over other people's property. Must have been a fun night at the ER.

I cannot believe that there are actually Portsmouth residents who are complaining about TWENTY MINUTES of fireworks on the FOURTH OF JULY!!

It's too loud??!! What about the little kids??!! It's TWENTY MINUTES out of the year!! Move to Canada, build a cabin in the north woods of Maine, find a hut in the Nevada desert ... maybe there you'll find the peace and tranquility you need. BTW - who do you complain to about thunderstorms??

God Bless Louis Escobar and the folks who donate to this annual celebration ... a wonderful community event!

I love to see fireworks, right now i am in the state of IN. For those of you who had a hard time with the noise, count your blessings, and be happy. The fireworks here lasted until midnight. They were loud and beautiful!
