Middletown Rotary Club Hosts Feed A Friend Food Drive and Fundraising Dinner

When Middletown Rotary President, David MacDonald, learned of the growing food needs at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, he new that the Rotary Club had to respond.

“We were delighted when the Middletown Rotary approached us about a fundraising dinner and food drive.  In 2012 the MLK Community Center served over 140,000 meals through our Feed A Friend Food Pantry,” said Marilyn Warren, Executive Director. “ We can’t feed our hungry neighbors without broad community support.” 

To help raise awareness and replenish the MLK Community Center Food Pantry the Middletown Rotary Club is hosting a Texas style BBQ, food drive and silent auction aided by the generosity of the Best Western Mainstay on Wednesday, February 27th.  The ticket price is $20 per person with a cash bar.  Additionally, several items will be auctioned at the event; dinner for two at the Windward Restaurant donated by the Hyatt Regency Newport Hotel and a lovely Sebatiani watch donated by The Platinum House.  Guest are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item and to come enjoy an evening with friends to help fight hunger in Newport County. All funds raised will benefit hunger programs at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in Newport and donations will re-stock their Feed A Friend Food Pantry.
