Jason Farquharson has developed a series of work that touches on both personal and artistic development over the years. His artwork consists of painting, drawing, graphic design and mixed media. Jason presents us with an exploration of surfaces such as wood and plexi glass, creating images using spray paint, pastel, acrylic, and photography. His photography focuses on the small details of the urban landscape which often go unnoticed/under-appreciated. He forces the viewer to focus on texture, color, light, and atmosphere, creating compositions that suggest human influence without human subjects. Jason's mixed media work is highly influenced by his architecture and design background. It is meticulously created, presenting his viewers with two dimensional images that have a certain structural quality to them. His work for "Under Construction" will be very personal. Jason has allowed himself to be vulnerable, touching on subjects like cultural identity, self-image, and overcoming his fears. These pieces represent a creative journey many of us can relate to and everyone will walk away from this show enlightened by his approach to his subjects and the dialogue that follows.
