Back to School Celebration

Back to School Celebration of RI (BTS) event this Saturday, August 17 from 10am to 1pm at the East Bay Community Action (EBCAP) Health Center (Six John H. Chafee Boulevard) in Newport.  BTS distributes free back packs filled with school supplies at 11 locations throughout Rhode Island on the same day, and BankNewport is the proud sponsor of the Newport location.  Our goal is to provide 900 local children with free backpacks filled with school supplies for the coming academic year, along with the opportunity to select books of their choice to begin building their at-home library – all of the books were donated by the community during the Bank’s recent children’s book drive.  

In addition to the backpacks and books, representatives from various community agencies will be on hand to provide important educational and human services information to families. 

This FREE event is open to all families throughout Newport County.  Children must be accompanied by an adult to receive their backpack.
