Today: Stay Cool, Give Blood, Love Shakespeare

No, it's not Friday. It's Thursday. Here are some things to take your mind off the fact that it's not Friday but it is hot.

  1. Weather got you hot under the collar today? It should, with temps soaring into the mid to low-90s. Thankfully, there are plenty of low- and no-cost ways to cool off in Middletown.
  2. The Rhode Island Blood Center has scheduled a Blood Drive for 1:30 to 4:30 today at the , 333 Green End Ave.
  3. The Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant presents “Bermuda Avenue Triangle.” This outrageous comedy is about two widows whose daughters have moved them into a condo in Las Vegas.
  4. The Middletown Public Library is welcoming lovers and readers of Shakespeare to join the group, "The Bard is Here." They meet Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. Bring your own collected volume or borrow the library's copy for the night.
  5. Did you know that the Middletown Senior Center was the first in the state to receive an in-house blood pressure monitoring system that provides live, real-time feedback from the Visiting Nurses of Bristol & Newport Counties?
