Tuesday: Local Author Book Series Launch at Island Books

A look at what's happening in and around Middletown today.

will host featuring “You” by Stephen Michael King at 10:30 a.m. An accompanying craft will follow.
Local author Ann Hood will launch her book tour for her new children's book series, , featuring eight books that are set in Newport at beginning at 4:30 p.m. today. The books are geared towards children ages 9-12 and follow the stories of twins who have recently moved from New York City into an attic apartment of a Newport mansion where they discover their great-grandfather's hidden study and its power of time travel that takes them back to a different era in each book. Refreshments will be served and the author will be available for questions and book signing.
The will host a for dogs ages 2 to 4 months to learn how to socialize at 5 p.m. The session is $7 and pre-registration is required. Register by emailing byrond@potterleague.org.
The will compete against Bishop Keough High School at home at 7 p.m.
The is hosting a from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in its cafeteria. All are welcome to donate blood, and everyone who donates will receive a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. Childcare will be provided.
