Child & Family Launches TV Show to Spotlight Programs

"Caring for Our Community" airs on NCTV Channel 18 Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m.

has launched a new half-hour program on NCTV-Channel 18 to help raise public awareness about the agency's services and upcoming events.

"Caring for our Community" began airing in early October and will continue to air at the beginning of each month, according to an announcement from Child & Family Services. The show spotlights services available to Newport County residents through Child & Family and also discusses upcoming community events. 

Steve Hyder, a Newport Resident and the official voice of the Pawtucket Red Sox, is serving as a volunteer host. Others on the production team include Brian Medeiros, PEG Access Coordinator, and Bob Poniatowski, host of "Newport County In-Focus."

Child & Family teen clients and staff from its Residential Services Program also have come on board as audio and visual volunteer staff.

"It is a mutually beneficial arrangement, allowing teens clients from Child & Family programs who have expressed an interest in television to be a part of something new, and very hands-on," Keith Tavares, Vice President of Institutional Advancement for Child & Family, said in a prepared announcement made Friday.

Future programs also will include guests from other area community organizations and social service providers.

Producers also hope to eventually add additional weekend and statewide air dates, according to the announcement.
