Get Out: Duck Race, Yoga Workshop and Bird Walk

A roundup of the best bets in town to keep your family entertained this weekend, July 7-10.


  • Where/When:
    on Thursday, July 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.
    Why Go:  Watch as many as 1,000 rubber ducks race for a $1,000 grand prize, $350 second prize, $150 third prize, and gift baskets for the fourth through tenth place winners all to benefit the Middletown Education Collaborative. Each duck is numbered and whoever sponsors the winning ducks takes home the prize.

  • Where/When:
    on Thursday, July 7 at 6 p.m.
    Why Go:  Cars 2 is in theatres now, but before you head to see it, check out the original PG rated Cars on a 92” HD Projector screen while enjoying pizza and more.

  • GET ROLLING WITH YOUR WHEEL: AN URDHVA DHANUARASANA WORKSHOP  
    Where/When:
    on Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    Why Go: Sara Davidson will lead this workshop which guides yoga students into specific action to achieve the Wheel position which is said to combine strength, grace, courage, and openness.

    on Saturday, July 9 at from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Why Go: This extensive farmers' market offer a wide selection of locally harvested organic and conventional produce and seafood, locally produced cheeses, meats, and bakery items, and much more all in one convenient place. Go for breakfast, pick up a picnic for the beach, or plan a nice dinner that evening with the freshest ingredients around.

  • NBS BIRD WALK
    Where/When:
    on Sunday 10 at 8 a.m.
    Why Go:
    Bring your own binoculars and head the sanctuary for a guided bird walk through the trails with Jay Manning.
