Grab & Go Kids Planner: Family Craft Class, Magic Show, Parents' Night Out and More

Middletown has some fun events on the calendar this weekend and there are a few worth leaving the island.

Here are some best bets for keeping the family entertained over the next few days:

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

  • FAMILY CRAFT CLASS
    Where/When:
    Michael’s Craft Store on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
    Why Go:
    Create a giant decorative cupcake out of a clay pot and saucer in this "Make-It Take-It" in-store craft class. Children ages 3 and up are welcome.
    Pricing: Class if free, but participants must purchase the clay pot and saucer.

  • Where/When:
    on Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m.
    Why Go:
    A special reading of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle as part of a National Storytime event. Crafts, activities, and refreshments will also be part of the event.

  • Where/When:
    RI National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Charlestown on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Why Go:
    The Charlestown complex is the Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge's sister complex. Help the National Wildlife Refuge System celebrate their 108th birthday with an all-day party featuring a lecture on the plight of the piping plover, nature crafts, indoor and outdoor scavenger hunts, birthday cake and more.

  • Where/When:
    on Saturday, March 19 from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m.
    Why Go:
    Parent’s can drop off their children (ages 3+ who are potty trained) for a night of swimming, games, dinner, and other fun while they get a night out to themselves without having to break the bank on a sitter.
    Pricing: $15/member; $20/non-member; Pre-registration required.
  • MAGIC SHOW
    Where/When:
    Bristol County Community College in Fall River on Saturday, March 19 at 3 p.m.
    Why Go:
    Your kids will watch in amazement for two hours as four magicians make objects disappear and as they levitate and divide people in two. Presented by the Southcoast YMCA.
    Pricing:
    $5/child; $10/adult; $20/family
