Maher Says 'Americans Are Stupid' at Newport Performance, Do You Agree?

At a show Sunday night at the Newport Yachting Center, Bill Maher chided Americans for being "stupid." Do you agree with the comedian?

Bill Maher held the audience in a continuous state of laughter with his edgy, politically driven comedy set Sunday night at the Newport Yachting Center. Although he poked fun at both political parties, he lambasted Republicans and suggested that any American who votes for that party outside of the 1 percent of the nation’s wealthiest citizens, are “stupid.”

Throughout the night he criticized Americans for being “stupid,” citing polls showing a surprising number of people do not believe in global warming, religious beliefs and forgiving ineffective and sexually inappropriate politicians. Maher then shifted to social issues, remarking that senators finally “evolved” on gay marriage after it had the majority support.

“I would say in 100 years, this country will be Mormon. It's a stupid religion and a stupid country,” said Maher.
