After ten years in business, has celebrated a milestone and debuted a new location on Newport's Historic Hill. In early April, the gallery opened its doors at 140 Spring Street across from
The new location offers more than a new view. Contemporary paintings and smart gifts join Alexander Nesbitt's savvy world travel images and vibrant photography of Newport. Blink also offers hand-crafted jewelry, carbon-fiber jewelry by Diana Hall, and ceramics with an urban feel.
A summer launch and ten-year anniversary celebration is scheduled for June 8. All are invited to attend this event to view new work, meet the artists, and experience the new space.
Blink Gallery was established in 2002 by award-winning professional photographer and Newport-native Alexander "Sandy" Nesbitt. The gallery was formerly housed at Nesbitt's photography studio at 89 Thames Street, which has greeted many on the way into town with a display of large vibrant images in the windows. After ten years in the business, Nesbitt has gambled on expanding to a second location. Just fifty days after opening the doors of the new Blink he is confident that "it's working."
An award-winner in its own right, Blink Gallery has been the recipient of multiple awards including a Mercury Love Award, "Best Gallery" by Rhode Island Monthly and in 2012 was voted "Best Gallery" by readers of Newport Life Magazine.
Current operating hours are Thursday-Monday from 11:00a.m.-6:00p.m and will be expanding for the summer season. Alexander Nesbitt's working studio remains at 89 Thames Street where he is available by appointment.
