Silent Auction & Raffle at 5th Element to Benefit Sustainable Aquidneck

A pre-Summer fundraiser featuring a silent auction and talented local musicians will be hosted by Sustainable Aquidneck on June 3rd, from 6-9PM at the 5th Element Bar & Grill at 111 Broadway. 

BMB/Chrysalis recording artist, Matt Hartke and Dave Passafiume’s Los Duderinos will be featured performers.

Sustainable Aquidneck, an all-volunteer Rhode Island non-profit founded in January, is working toward self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability on Aquidneck Island. The group seeks to collaborate with the community to create local solutions that meet local environmental, social and economic needs. 

Numerous area businesses have generously donated many items for a planned silent auction and raffle in support of Sustainable Aquidneck and its planned programs.

The group’s foundation project for 2012, Island Community Farms @ Green End, is being established on eight acres of land owned by the Aquidneck Land Trust. Sustainable Aquidneck has secured a five year lease to allow development of independent micro-farms, a community garden, a Permaculture food forest, education heirloom and educational gardens and an experimental farm.

Donated items and services will be used to raise money for projects aimed at enriching and strengthening our community. Funds raised from the island community will go toward critical farm infrastructure including a well, a tractor, deer fencing, and core educational programs.
