Local Roastmaster Brews New Brand to Benefit Veterans Groups

The folks at Custom House Coffee in Middletown have launched a new coffee brand, Veteran Coffee Roasters, to help veterans organizations in two ways.

A local coffee roaster and veteran of the Vietnam war has brewed up a new brand to benefit veterans and military organizations.

Robert Mastin, founder of Middletown's Custom House Coffee, just launched the new brand, Veteran Coffee Roasters, and the new company will donate one dollar for each pound sold to wounded and disabled veteran support organizations.

Mastin said the coffee will be brewed with the same "exacting standards" as Custom House Coffee — a popular regional brand that has steadily expanded its reach over the last 12 years across New England and beyond.

The new brand will help veterans and military organizations in two ways. Along with the financial contributions from the dollar-per-pound model, the organizations will be able to buy the coffee at wholesale and resell it at retail prices to generate even more money to support additional causes, like the United Way or the USO.

"Two worthy causes are supported with each pound sold, while the ultimate coffee drinkers enjoy top quality coffee," Mastin said. "Everyone wins."

The brand will use only high quality arabica beans, roasted in small batches to keep them as fresh as possible.

Mastin, a roastmaster, uses two American-made Diedrich roasters with his crew, which has a combined experience of 25 years among them.

Several new blends have been developed for the brand, with names like Reveille Roast, B-52 Blend, Recon Roast, Bosun’s Blend, and R&R Roast, Veteran’s organizations, military units and retailers can purchase the coffee wholesale through the Veteran Coffee Roasters website at www.veterancoffeeroasters.com or call 401-849-3631.
