Middletown Gives New Discount Grocery Store Mixed Reviews

Residents weighed-in on ALDI, the new Middletown grocery store.

Last week a discount grocery store opened its doors in the space that Middletown used to know as Best Buy in the Home Depot plaza. ALDI, located at 890 West Main Road, claims to offer prices as low as 50 percent those of traditional supermarkets.

To get the first impression from the community, we asked our Facebook fans what they thought of the new store. Here is what some had to say about the new store:

Nicole Sams: Not Impressed!!! Wish they brought Whole Foods to the island!!!!

Erin Dwyer: Was pretty much what I expected. With the $10 off coupon I got two full bags for $34! Good stuff too. Mainly meats, produce and dairy.
Nikki ChrupcalaTheir milk tastes funny. Greek yogurt was good though! It's so-so.

Kelly Ganser: poor selection. was told that marinara sauce was "a seasonal item" and that "because we're a small store, we only stock it from memorial day to labor day".

Terri Smith: What a lousy store! There was not one thing in there I liked, and I found it was not any cheaper than Shaw's or Stop and Shop. Also the layout of the store is terrible!
